Proceedings in print.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To gauge the strategic use of Facebook as an electoral campaign tool, we draw on four main dimensions to understand the motivations and practices of political strategists on this social network: interactivity, engagement, personalization and professionalization. We empirically validate this corpus of analysis with data from two primary sources: <strong>interviews with the communication managers<\/strong> of eight of the ten political parties with parliamentary representation in October 2019 and an <strong>online survey<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text is-stacked-on-mobile is-vertically-aligned-top\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"627\" height=\"420\" src=\"https:\/\/dedalusjmmr.net\/pinbook\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/facebookfunctions.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-607 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dedalusjmmr.net\/pinbook\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/facebookfunctions.png 627w, https:\/\/dedalusjmmr.net\/pinbook\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/facebookfunctions-300x201.png 300w, https:\/\/dedalusjmmr.net\/pinbook\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/facebookfunctions-230x154.png 230w, https:\/\/dedalusjmmr.net\/pinbook\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/facebookfunctions-350x234.png 350w, https:\/\/dedalusjmmr.net\/pinbook\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/facebookfunctions-480x322.png 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 627px) 100vw, 627px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The results show that 1) Facebook\u2019s main function is the <strong>dissemination of political proposals and mobilization<\/strong>; 2) A <strong>low level of personalization<\/strong> is especially obvious for parliamentary elections and not all parties manage personalization in the same way; 3) Interaction is seen as an important possibility of Facebook; 4) A <strong>mature degree of professionalization<\/strong> is identified in the communication of all parties. Moreover, the campaigns operated in a <strong>hypermedia logic<\/strong> where contents are disseminated through direct, indirect, traditional, and &#8220;new&#8221; media.
